News

The Department of Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property (DRCIP) announced that pursuant to the Directive of the Registrar of Companies (Κ.Δ.Π. 112/2021), companies which filed an application for their strike off prior to the 12th of March 2021 or the liquidation of which has started prior to the 12th of March 2021, are exempt from the obligation to submit information regarding the ultimate beneficial owners to the UBO Register as follows:

  • In the case of strike off, the date of submission of the relevant application to the Department is the date to note for exemption purposes.
  • In the case of voluntary liquidation, the date of the resolution is the date to note for exemption purposes.
  • In the case of liquidation through the Court, the date of submission of the relevant application to the Court is the date to note for exemption purposes.

Additionally the Department of Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property (DRCIP) announced that in cases where the resignation of the officers of a company after the 12th of March 2021 resulted in a company remaining without officers, the obligation to submit information regarding the ultimate beneficial owners to the UBO Register remains. The same applies in cases where a company submitted an application for strike off pursuant to Article 327 (2A) (a) of the Cyprus Companies Act, after the 12th of March 2021.
