A European program on Data Protection (“Problem-based training activities on data protection reform” (TRAIN GR-CY), aimed to provide practical training for Judges, lawyers and data protection officers (DPOs) in enhancing the effective implementation of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 GDPR, has been jointly organised by the University of Cyprus, the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection of Cyprus, the Center of the European Constitutional Law - Themistocles and Dimitris Tsatsou Foundation, the Hellenic Data Protection Authority and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens within 2019.

As a result of this Program, a Code of Practice has been drafted and developed for the effective implementation of the GDPR that will be mainly used by judges, lawyers and DPOs.

Always being at the forefront of Data Protection matters, Totalserve’s DPO Xenia Kasapi (Head of Intellectual Property & Data Protection), has been selected to be actively involved in the above Program and hence the drafting of such Code of Practice.

In order to present the Code of Practice to the public, a very successful event was organized on 17 December 2019 by the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection within the framework of the European Program “TRAIN GR-CY”.

Xenia Kasapi, was also a main speaker in the event stressing out the role of a DPO in an organisation and the practical issues of implementing the GDPR. Xenia also recommended some good practices for compliance with the Law, while emphasizing the need to create a culture around data protection within each organisation and stressed the importance of continuous training.
