July 2011 Tortola (BVI) - Totalserve was recently granted an Authorised Representative licence by the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (FSC).
Totalserve Authorised Representative Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Totalserve Trust Company Ltd, can now act as the main intermediary in the BVI for funds and FSC-licensed investment business companies.
Under the Securities and Investment Business Act, 2010 (SIBA), all licensees and funds under SIBA are required to have an Authorised Representative in the BVI, unless they can prove significant management presence there.
Commenting on the appointment, Totalserve Trust Company Ltd Manager, Deneshar Meade, said that “very few BVI service providers have secured the license, which makes this development as important to us as it is to our clients.
The appointment of a licensed Authorised Representative is one of the requirements of the enhanced regulatory framework in the BVI. Totalserve rose to the challenge and offered its clients uninterrupted service.”
Apart from representing licensees and funds to the FSC, Totalserve may now accept service of notices and other documents on behalf of the licensee as well as keep such records, or copies of such records, as may be prescribed by applicable regulations. It can also submit documents to the FSC as well as pay fees on behalf of the licensee.
