May 2011 - STEP Chief Executive visits Cyprus

Limassol, May 2011 - The Chief Executive of STEP, the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners, David Harvey recently visited Cyprus in a show of support for the Cyprus branch of the global organisation of fiduciary and related services professionals.

During his first ever visit to Cyprus, he attended the Annual General Meeting of the Cyprus branch of STEP and two separate cocktail parties, organised in his honour in Limassol and Nicosia respectively, where he met with fellow members and other professionals on the island and updated them on the workings of STEP and its objectives.
During his visit, it was agreed to support Cyprus in its bid to host STEP’s flagship yearly event, the STEP International Conference, sometime at the beginning of next summer.

Bidding farewell to the Chief Executive, STEP Cyprus Chairman, Peter G. Economides, expressed his appreciation for his friendship, support and pledge to elevate the Cyprus branch of STEP to new levels, adding: “Holding the STEP International conference in Cyprus will greatly contribute towards that goal and will place Cyprus on the global trusts map.”

STEP was founded in 1991 and today is the leading worldwide professional body for practitioners in the fields of trusts, estates and related issues. STEP has more than 15,000 members in 66 countries, including Cyprus where the branch was set up in 2003 and local membership numbers exceed 125 professionals from the island’s legal, accounting, banking and trust fields.
